Equalities Statement

The GLC is committed to ensuring equality of provision for all.  Equality is enshrined in our mission statement which aims to offer everyone opportunities to develop as high achieving, resilient, healthy, aspirational, caring and fulfilled members of society.

Additionally, our wider vision for community equality is outlined in the GLC Community Vision Statement:

All different and all equal

Imagine the Gateway Learning Community ... a thriving and prosperous place where people from all different backgrounds are equal, and where everyone matters whether old or young, settled or new, black or white. Environment exists in each GLC academy where all groups feel that they are treated fairly, and that they have responsibility to others that transcends the difference between them.  An environment where people are not fearful of others, and where they don’t see individual differences as a barrier to the success of the whole community

  • To achieve this our equality objectives, include the following:
  • To tackle all types and aspects of prejudice;
  • To provide equal access to all aspects of the GLC’s educational provision be it in or outside of the classroom;
  • To narrow any attainment gaps between groups of pupils [particularly disadvantaged pupils];
  • To allow equal access to information to all parents;
  • To ensure each GLC academy is accessible as possible to all pupils, staff and visitors;
  • To promote all young people’s social, moral, cultural and spiritual development through a rich range of experiences both in and beyond each GLC academy.
