Lifesaving tool delivered to the school...

Friends of Gateway Primary Free School (GPFS PTA) recently purchased a defibrillator which will be placed in the Lower Heart Space, adjacent to the main reception.

The purchase was made following a request from Head of School, Mr Thom Martin who suggested that it would be helpful to have such a vital item of life saving kit as a precaution at the Gateway Primary Free School.

A defibrillator, otherwise known as an IPAD (Intelligent Public Access Defibrillator), delivers an electric shock to the heart when someone is having a cardiac arrest and every minute without CPR or defibrillation reduces their chances of survival by 10%.

Mr Stuart Redford, Chairman for the GPFS PTA, said “I would like to thank Mrs Sharon Watkinson from the Gateway Academy for her help and assistance with the purchase. Being a First Responder, Sharon is well aware of the importance of owning a defibrillator and placing it on-site within easy access to all, and indeed secured the same for the Gateway Academy in 2015.”
