Bookworms are steaming ahead at the Gateway Primary Free School...

The Friends of the Gateway Primary Free School PTA (GPFS PTA) have recently purchased another £1700 of school books suitable for all ages, to add to their library in the Upper Heart Space.

The books were purchased from Usborne Books following another successful Ready, Steady, Read campaign which saw pupils raising sponsorship money for the amount of minutes they read over a 7 day period. Usborne Books added 60% commission to the amount raised, to enable the PTA to purchase 365 Books - one for every day of the year.

The event was open to every child in the school, with 7 children taking part in the raising of funds - between them they raised £410. The PTA added a further £650 towards this to give us £1060 which was presented to Usborne and along with their 60% commission, there was a fantastic £1700 to spend!

Mr Stuart Redford, Chair of the Governors and the PTA, said “We are intending to run this event next year and hope to raise an equally fantastic amount of money, so that we can advance the range and topic of books available in our newly formed Library for all the children to enjoy.”
