Junior Music Festival

Junior Music Festival:

We know these are still very uncertain times for everyone. As you will be aware, the music festivals were cancelled last year due to the pandemic. Although we were hoping to be able to hold a ‘normal’ festival this year it is now looking impossible. We are, however, planning to do a virtual festival instead.

The plan is to release a video in the week of the music festival (w/c 5th July) consisting of three songs plus a showcase of young musical talent in Thurrock.
The children will also be supported by the Staff Choir, the Gospel Choir and hopefully the Steel Pans. There may also be a performance by some guest artists, such as the current Young Musician of the Year. The JMF live band will be recording the backing tracks to accompany the children in the finished production.

The songs we plan to record are:
• Stand by me (we will also be learning to sign the chorus)
• Oh Happy day
• I will follow him
Sing-a-long tracks for all three songs are available on the Thurrock Music Education Hub YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTCTNqUAEG-0o-b3f_EpnbQ.

If your child is in years 3-6 and would like to take part in the virtual Music Festival, they must be willing to practice the songs at home. If we have enough interest Mrs Mernissi will organise an after school zoom club to practice the songs together.

Please send a private message to Mrs Mernissi by 5.03.21 if your child would like to take part and she will send you the lyrics sheets and more information.
