  • Year 6 Residential Trip – Stubbers Adventure Centre

    What an unforgettable few days our Year 6 pupils had at Stubbers! From paddleboarding and high ropes to campfires and team games, the adventure was packed with energy, laughter, and new experiences.

    The children embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, showing fantastic teamwork, resilience, and plenty of smiles.

    A huge thank you to our wonderful staff and the brilliant Stubbers team for making it such a fun and memorable trip.

    Well done, Year 6—you’ve made memories that will stay with you forever!

  • KS2 Thurrock Borough Olympics 2025

    • Over 40 children participated in the KS2 Borough Olympics event.
    • The team secured several individual medals and achieved a notable 2nd place finish in the boys’ relay.
    • All pupils showed tremendous effort and determination making the GPFS very proud.
    • Overall, the team placed 4th in track events and 7th in field events, resulting in a strong combined finish of 6th place.

  • Year 5 Trip to Go Ape

    Year 5 had an absolutely thrilling time at Go Ape! They embraced the challenge of the treetop ropes courses, navigating wobbly bridges, balancing beams, and soaring through the air on exciting zip lines. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to push their limits, build confidence, and have a truly memorable outdoor adventure together.

    Year 5/6 Girls Dynamo Cricket

    • Girls from Years 5 and 6 took part in a Dynamo Cricket event, competing against 12 other schools from across Thurrock.
    • The team showed fantastic improvement in their batting, scoring more runs with each game.
    • They demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout the tournament and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
    • A fantastic team effort!

    Year 1&2 3 Tees Cricket

    • 8 Year 1 and 2 pupils from the GPFS took part in a 3 Tees Cricket event, delivering an impressive performance throughout.
    • The team won their first two matches, tied one, and lost one, finishing joint 4th out of 10 teams.
    • They narrowly missed out on the semi-finals by just two runs, highlighting how close and competitive the tournament was.
    • Exceptionally proud of these young cricket stars!

    Year 3/4 Rapid Fire Cricket

    • Year 3 and 4 pupils took part in a Rapid Fire Cricket event, playing four exciting matches, winning two and losing two.
    • The team showcased some outstanding batting, with several players scoring over 20 runs.
    • They finished 6th out of 10 teams and should be proud of their strong effort and enthusiasm throughout the tournament!

  • Year 2 Visit to Colchester Zoo

    This half term, our Year 2 GPFS children had an unforgettable adventure at Colchester Zoo! 🌿🦁

    They explored the amazing animal exhibits, learned fascinating facts about wildlife, and enjoyed a day full of fun and discovery. From spotting majestic lions to watching playful monkeys, the children’s curiosity and excitement were truly inspiring. πŸ’πŸ¦“

  • Car Park Update - Flow Plates

    Please be aware that flow plates have been installed at the entrance to the Gateway Academy/ Gateway Primary Free School car park. This is to support the one-way system that is strictly in place, helping to make it a safer space for our families.

  • Cricket Match!

    On Monday 19th May 2025, Year 6 went to a thrilling Essex Women vs Surrey Women T20 match. Despite a late start, pupils enjoyed sunshine, a lively atmosphere, and standout performances—especially Phoebe Franklin’s 57 runs. Though Essex lost by 29 runs, it was an unforgettable day of learning and enjoyment.

  • Young Writers - Poetry Competition

    In October, a group of students took part in a poetry competition organised by Young Writers, where they had the opportunity to write a poem on a topic of their choosing.

    In February, Lolu’s poem was chosen as a winner and published in the Young Writers' book. She received her prize from Miss Pattison during the all-school assembly.

    A fantastic achievement, congratulations Lolu.

  • Year 5 Ancient Egypt Workshop

    This half term, the children took part in a very exciting Ancient Egyptian workshop. They embraced different crafting activities to prepare for a royal burial. In the afternoon, they held a celebration for the Pharaohs good health and the flooding of the River Nile. This included some fantastic drama pieces performed by the children.

  • Lighthouses in Year 1

    This half term, in Year 1 history, we explored lighthouses and steamships from the Victorian era. We delved into the various parts of a lighthouse and the duties of a lighthouse keeper before crafting our own models of steamships and lighthouses!
