On Monday 19th May 2025, Year 6 went to a thrilling Essex Women vs Surrey Women T20 match. Despite a late start, pupils enjoyed sunshine, a lively atmosphere, and standout performances—especially Phoebe Franklin’s 57 runs. Though Essex lost by 29 runs, it was an unforgettable day of learning and enjoyment.
In October, a group of students took part in a poetry competition organised by Young Writers, where they had the opportunity to write a poem on a topic of their choosing.
In February, Lolu’s poem was chosen as a winner and published in the Young Writers' book. She received her prize from Miss Pattison during the all-school assembly.
A fantastic achievement, congratulations Lolu.
This half term, the children took part in a very exciting Ancient Egyptian workshop. They embraced different crafting activities to prepare for a royal burial. In the afternoon, they held a celebration for the Pharaohs good health and the flooding of the River Nile. This included some fantastic drama pieces performed by the children.
This half term, in Year 1 history, we explored lighthouses and steamships from the Victorian era. We delved into the various parts of a lighthouse and the duties of a lighthouse keeper before crafting our own models of steamships and lighthouses!

The children had an incredible time taking part in a Rock Steady workshop, where they got to experience the excitement of being in a real band! From playing electric guitars and drums to rocking out on the keyboard and microphone, everyone had the chance to explore different instruments and feel like a true musician.

This week, the Year 4 children had the exciting opportunity to go on a backstage tour at the Royal Ballet and Opera’s High House Production. They explored areas typically hidden from audiences, learning about set design, costume creation, and the technical aspects of a performance. The children saw how costumes are crafted, how lighting and sound are coordinated, and how props are used. They also had the chance to meet professionals working behind the scenes, such as costume designers and stage managers. This experience gave them a greater appreciation for the hard work and teamwork involved in creating a production.

Year 3 children had the opportunity to learn the art of weaving, giving them a hands-on experience of how the Anglo-Saxons prepared their clothing. They began by practising card weaving, getting the hang of the technique. Once they felt confident, they moved on to weaving fabric which they had dyed in a previous lesson. This activity not only taught them an important historical skill but also helped them understand how the Anglo-Saxons created their clothing using traditional methods.
The children thoroughly enjoyed bringing history to life through this practical, creative learning experience.
